In the USA it is very common to frequently change apartments or move to another town.
Almost all towns have such storage places, which are listed in your city yellow pages. Depending on your need you may opt for either temperature controlled or normal storage.
Temporary storage are economical than shifting twice, and is a better idea than engaging a rental apartment only to keep your stuff.
- Inform the Banks, Credit Unions, Insurance companies etc. about the change of address.
- Inform the post office about your new address. Fill up a request form for redirecting your mail to the new address.
- If you are on H1 and are moving to another state, ask your employer to get you a labor certificate which allows you to work legally in some other state.
- Request the apartment manager to collect and redirect all your mails received after you leave.
- You will have to apply for the new registration of your car, if you have changed the state.
- Apply for a new driving license, if you have moved to a new state.
- If moving through movers, then take the insured plan for fragile items like TV, Computers etc.
